Absorbed by fishing from the moment he laid cast with rod and fly, Marty Howard is a driven soul. His first steelhead fly produced at the vise, a California wet fly, prompted a consuming lifelong addiction. His desire to master every aspect of the sport has yielded opportunities throughout the fly fishing experience. His passion for the two-handed rod has taken him all over the world in pursuit of anadromous beauties. Marty’s love for tying quickly spread into all aspects of fly fishing and within the first year of his newly formed addiction, he started tying flies for species of fish that live far from his local waters. Marty’s passion for tying has taken him all over the world in a search for fish that will take one of his finely dressed flies. Marty’s favorite pastime is swinging flies for steelhead but he still enjoys presenting small dry flies to finicky trout in small streams. Marty broke into the fly fishing industry by taking employment with a sporting goods retailer. In 1985 with help from his father, Marty opened a fly shop in Salt Lake City, Utah followed by one of the first fly fishing guide services on Utah's Green River below Flaming Gorge. Marty continues to guide on his local stream as well as teaching fly tying and casting clinics. Marty is a member of the Utah Fly Fishing Hall of Fame, is a published author, and his fly photography is second to none.

"The pure joy of fly fishing is the all-encompassing connection I feel during the experience. Gripping the cork of a CF Burkheimer rod links my passion to the pursuit." Marty Howard
